ProArteDanza has established standards of excellence that attract world-renowned choreographers, top production and design professionals, and exceptional dancers. Each ProArteDanza production consistently draws in a broad audience of lovers of many forms of dance including ballet and contemporary dance. The year will launch with the second annual Short Stories performances. The program will feature three short narrative driven works by exciting choreographers and theatre directors, who will have the exceptional talent of ProArteDanza’s dancers at their disposal.
Shortly following this performance, ProArteDanza will tour Fractals (choreographed by Guillaume Côté) in Quebec, to be presented at the DansEncore International Dance Festival in Trois-Rivieres and at the Festival des arts in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec).
In late August, The Summer Intensive Program (SIP) 2014 will provide 25 young artists with 4 weeks of exceptional technical training and creative growth with ProArteDanza’s faculty, culminating in a public performance of new works and company repertoire. 2014’s Guest Choreographer will be Shay Kuebler, of the highly successful and critically acclaimed 605 Collective in Vancouver. ProArteDanza will also expand the summer training this year, with the addition of the Aspirante Program, a two-week intensive for dancers ages 13-16. This will serve as stepping stone to further training and performance opportunities with the company.
In October ProArteDanza will celebrate its 10 Year Anniversary with Season 2014. Honouring both where we’ve come from and where we are going, Season 2014 will feature a retrospective of the past ten years including an excerpt from Guillaume Côté's Fractals, an excerpt from Full Bloom, co-choreographed by Glumbek, O'Day and Luches Huddleston Jr.(Manheim Ballet), and a remount of ... in between ..., the Dora Award Winning Campanella-Glumbek co-choreography from 2010.
