ProArteDanza PerformanceSeason 2016
November 16–19, 2016 | 8:00 PM
ProArteDanza, the critically acclaimed Toronto dance company that seamlessly blends ballet and modern dance, presents Season 2016, featuring the world premiere of Fearful Symmetries by Roberto Campanella and the Ontario premiere of Robert Glumbek’s acclaimed work Diversion.
Fearful Symmetries: Using the music of the same name by John Adams, Roberto Campanella will place his own experience as an immigrant to Canada in juxtaposition with the current generation of young artists influenced by urban aesthetics and pop culture. According to Adams, the music is structured to give the impression of continuous movement over a shifting landscape.
Diversion is an explosive, high-energy work, embodying ProArteDanza’s motto, “passion in performance”. Diversions examines various departures we experience in life, both the expected and the unexpected; the inevitable and the undesired. The work also explores subjects of loss, isolation, and the imposed psychological journey that is the outcome of unexpected departures.
“Arguably the best small-scale contemporary ballet company in Canada.” - The Globe and Mail
