The SIP really took me to the next level and helped me start my career. The diverse program allowed for me to improve upon both myself and my dancing by giving me the confidence and experience to push myself further than what I thought originally possible. Techniques within the improvisation, ballet and contemporary teachings that I had learned at the SIP, I continue to use today and truly feel that they played a major role in the start of my career by giving me a solid foundation in both technique and artistry to push forward from.”
Jamie Nix winner of the SIP program Apprenticeship Award.
The SIP program played a crucial role in my training and artistic development as a dancer.  The days were long and intense and required a lot of my body and mind, but the atmosphere was completely supportive and fun.  I was able to make some lasting relationships with the other dancers and the choreographers. I worked with the company during their fall season that year, and have been since. I am now a freelance dancer in Toronto and have also done work in Montreal. The SIP is where I really began to dig into my own physical and technical skills and develop a personal movement style and artistic vocabulary. This is vital to me as a professional dance artist.”
Erin Poole, independent dance artist (ProArteDanza, Gadfly, Colemen Lemieux Company)
The ProArte Summer Intensive is an excellent opportunity for emerging dance artists to work in a company-like setting under the guidance and mentorship of a faculty with extensive and impressive professional careers.  The program offers a wonderful transition for dancers who are graduating from a training program and are looking to bridge the gap into the professional world.  Many of our students have participated in the intensive over the past several years, and the difference in the quality of their dancing and their perspective moving forward is considerable.  The program has served as springboard for dancers who have become company members or apprentices with ProArte as well as with other professional dance companies in Canada. Additionally, many of our current students audition for the program between their 3rd and 4th of study at Ryerson, the momentum generated at the ProArte Summer Intensive substantially enhanced their training and prepared the dancers for a rich and successful final year.”
