EstateDanza is a unique, four-week outdoor summer intensive experience tailored to pre-professional dancers ages 16 and over. Featuring local and world-renowned faculty, our training is designed to develop versatile, top-performing contemporary dancers.

  • Full days, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Contemporary, Ballet and Improv classes
  • Remounting excerpts from ProArteDanza’s repertoire
  • Six shows at a theatre venue
  • Professional video footage and photography of the performances
  • Limited spots, first-come-first-serve

COVID Protocols

To ensure dancer and faculty safety and comply with the most recent COVID-19 prevention guidelines, our summer intensive program will once again take place at the CNE Bandshell, an open-air concert venue located at Exhibition Place. 

  • Estatedanza participants will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing
  • No physical contact between dancers or faculty: ie; hands-on corrections, partnering from faculty. 
  • Daily temperature checks and COVID-19 symptoms assessments 
  • All participants will be subject to an assumption of risk and waiver of liability before joining the program.

Roberto Campanella

Director

Founded by former National Ballet of Canada dancer and renowned choreographer Roberto Campanella, ProArteDanza is a new, unique, visionary dance company, created to showcase the best choreographers and dancers from both ballet and modern dance backgrounds. The fusion of two such diverse disciplines celebrates the vibrant potency of both and demonstrates that choreography can bridge the common divide between each art form.

Sasha Ludavicius

Rehearsal Director

Sasha Ludavicius is a professional freelance contemporary dance artist in Toronto. She studied ballet internationally but discovered her passion for contemporary dance in Montreal. Ludavicius was the recipient of the ProArteDanza’s SIP Apprenticeship Award and apprenticed with ProArteDanza during their 2015 season. She has been dancing with the company ever since she received her first apprentice contract. In 2016, she graduated from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. She was selected to be a part of the 2017/18 RBC Emerging Artists Project with Peggy Baker Dance Projects. Additionally, she is a freelance contemporary dance teacher, personal trainer as well as a certified yoga instructor in Toronto. For the past two years, she has been the Training Coordinator and the Rehearsal Director for ProArteDanza’s Summer Dance Intensive Program.

Johanna Bergfeldt

Contemporary Teacher

Johanna Bergfelt, a native of Sweden, graduated from The Royal Swedish Ballet School in 1989. She has an extensive performance background beginning with Östgötabaletten, where she worked for six years, and later joined Norrdans, and the Barents Dance Ensemble.  Since coming to Canada in 2000, Johanna has worked with The Chimera Project, Kaeja d’Dance, Kathleen Rea, Santee Smith, Darcey Callison, Louis Laberge-Côté, Kate Alton, Holly Small, William Yong, Pro Arte Danza, Mairéad Filgate, Yvonne Ng, and the Toronto Dance Theatre, where she was a company dancer for six years.  Johanna has been nominated four times for a Dora Mavor Moore Award. As a teacher Johanna teaches regularly at In Studio, GMD, online through Toronto Online Dance Collective, and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, where she since 2019 is an Artistic Associate.

Ryan Lee

Floor Work Teacher

Independent Dance Artist Ryan Lee graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Emily Molnar, Guillaume Côté, Kevin O’Day, Stephen Pier, D.A. Hoskins, Darryl Tracy, Sharon B Moore, Julia Sasso and Menaka Thakkar.  Ryan has worked for such companies as Human Body Expression, ProArteDanza, Toronto Dance Theatre, Kaeja d’Dance, Anandam Dancetheatre, inDANCE, Larchaud Dance Project, Transcendance, The Chimera Project and TOES for Dance.  Ryan has toured internationally and has been nominated for Dora Mavor Moore awards for outstanding ensemble performance – 2011 In between by Roberto Campanella and Robert Glumbek and 2018 for Chasing the Path by Hanna Kiel. 

Ryan has been commissioned to make works by ProArteDanza, Anandam DanceTheatre, ACE DanceTheatre, The Emerging Artist Intensive, Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, Ryerson University, George Brown College, Centennial College, Dance Ontario, Etobicoke School for the Arts and The School of Toronto Dance Theatre.  In 2019 Ryan co founded The Platform, a Toronto based collective focused on artistic creation and collaboration.  

Pulga Muchochoma

African Dance Teacher

Pulga Muchochoma was born in Quelimane, Mozambique. His dance career and training began in Quelimane with Montes Namuli Dance Company. In August of 2006 he came to Toronto with the company for the International AIDS Conference. With Montes Namuli/Shakespeare Link Canada, he performed in several shows in venues in Toronto and Mozambique. When Montes Namuli returned to Mozambique, Muchochoma stayed in Toronto to study at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. After 3 years of the professional training he joined the company Toronto Dance Theatre under Artist Director Christopher House Since 2009. While his time with TDT he has had the pleasure of working and collaborating with many local and International choreographers. Also with TDT Pulga participated on the 2015 Opening ceremony of the Toronto Pan am Games with Cirque do Soleil and NBS. He’s also the creator and founder of Pulga Dance since 2015.

Jade Whitney

Contemporary Jazz Teacher

Jade Whitney, Toronto-born artist, trained at Vlad’s Dance Company in contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and jazz funk. She has worked with choreographers Mike Song, Addy Chan, Jeff Mortenson, Christopher Scott, Will Loftis, Luther Brown, Amy Wright, Roberto Campanella and more. 

Jade’s film/television credits include the MMVA’s (Nick Jonas), EMA’s (Tate Mcrae), Disney’s Zombies 1 & 2, Schitt’s Creek, The Next Step, Julie and the Phantoms, Suicide Squad, The Strain and more. She has done mo-cap for Assassin’s Creed and League of Legends. She has also danced for FKA twigs and LOONY. Recently, Jade choreographed a commercial for AutoTrader. 

Irina Lerman

Ballet Teacher

Irina Lerman originally from Russia. She graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint-Petersburg in 2011 in a class of renowned ballet teacher Kovaleva Ludmila Valentinovna. After her graduation, she joined in the same year Mariinsky Ballet. She was fortunate enough to dance all classical and contemporary repertoire of Mariinsky Ballet went on tour in the USA, Germany, France, OAE, Japan, Chine.

In 2014 she made her choreographic debut at the stage of Mariinsky Theatre and got her Master’s Degree in Vaganova Ballet Academy in Choreography in 2016 alongside with Silver Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Riga, Latvia.

Robert Glumbek

Director

Upon graduation from Bytom State Ballet School in Poland, Robert Glumbek joined The Great Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Warsaw as a soloist where he worked with choreographers including John Neumeier, Maurice Bejart, Hans Van Manen, John Butler, and Constantine Siergiejew. In 1987, Glumbek came to Canada and worked for a variety of companies – including Theatre Ballet of Canada in Ottawa with Larry Gradus, the Judith Marcuse Company in Vancouver; and Myth Productions with Learie McNichols – before dancing with Desrosiers Dance Theatre from 1990 – 2000 where he was instrumental in the creation of many roles.
